Inbound vs. Outbound Marketing | By Yakira Levi
Outbound Marketing is the old way of
force-feeding prospective consumers. Outbound Marketing imposes ideas that
entice an attraction to products or services. Examples of Outbound Marketing
include street promoters distributing fliers at a party, a television
commercial advertising fast food dining, and an outdoor Billboard promoting
low-cost legal representation. Some brands create food commercials that use
color, images, light, and sound to make prospects have the urge to eat the
advertised product. Outbound Marketing is an aggressive way of marketing. The
focus is on pushing a product or brand on-to a customer.
Inbound Marketing is all about creating sincere, lasting
relationships and trusted experiences within your crowdsource. The main idea is
to develop more meaningful relationships. Successful Inbound Marketers listen
to their audience. Inbound Marketing uses the 80 - 20 rule to provide what is
needed by its audience. 80% of all communication is about helping the audience
fill a need and only 20% is about pushing the brand. The best part of the
process includes working together with others who wish to "co-create"
with you. Instead of distributing unwanted fliers, producing manipulative
television commercials, and spending money on giant Billboard ads, the
successful Inbound Marketer provides needed services to its community, fan
base, or crowdsource.
A perfect example of someone practicing Inbound Marketing is
when a woman I met recently at a Music Business workshop sent me an email
formally introducing herself and the name of her company. She spoke about the
great time we had at the workshop. Then she wrote about being swamped with work
since she got back home. She told me about her services and shared a list of
helpful links on Public Relations best practices. I kept the email to revisit
all of the links contained. If I were not a PR writer myself, I probably would
have used her or referred her services to a friend. I appreciated that email, gained
some valuable information, and I felt somewhat of a bond. That is a perfect example of Inbound Marketing. At Wide View Publishing, we're happy to provide both inbound and outbound services. Take a look at the links below and give us a call when you're ready to go.
